Transformers is a collaboration between media artist Wim Janssen and choreographer Guilherme Miotto. Together, they are developing a performative installation in which they explore the potential of sound to create a virtual architecture and movement through it. To achieve this, a collection of homemade stringed instruments will be placed in a space. The instruments are digitally controlled, allowing each string to be precisely manipulated. By tuning the strings based on the physical dimensions of the space, standing waves are produced. Sounds are experienced more prominent or more subtle depending on where a performer or visitor is positioned within the space. Miotto and his performers respond to this dynamic sound space.

Transformers is een samenwerking tussen mediakunstenaar Wim Janssen en choreograaf Guilherme Miotto. Samen ontwikkelen ze een performatieve installatie waarin ze het potentieel van klank onderzoeken om een virtuele architectuur en de beweging er doorheen te creëren. Hiervoor worden een verzameling zelfgemaakte snaarinstrumenten in een ruimte geplaatst worden. De instrumenten worden digitaal aangestuurd, waardoor elke snaar precies bestuurd kan worden. Door de snaren te stemmen aan de hand van de fysieke afmetingen van de ruimte worden staande golven geproduceerd. Klanken worden dominanter of subtieler ervaren naargelang waar een performer of bezoeker plaats neemt in de ruimte. Miotto en zijn performers reageren op deze dynamisch klankruimte.
